Under vår analys av nya prover av skadlig programvara stötte vi på en ransomware-variant känd som Lethal Lock. Denna ransomware krypterar filer och lägger till dess tillägg (".LethalLock") till deras filnamn. Dessutom genererar Lethal Lock en lösennota ("SOLUTION_NOTE.txt") och ändrar offrets skrivbordsbakgrund.
Till exempel döps filer krypterade av Lethal Lock om enligt följande: "1.jpg" blir "1.jpg.LethalLock", "2.png" blir "2.png.LethalLock" och så vidare. Lösenedeln börjar med att erkänna intrånget i serversäkerheten av "LETHAL LOCK", en cyberenhet.
